AgrarKontakte International (AKI) e.V. has been conducting trainee programs for young agricultural professionals from various partner countries for over 30 years and can look back on a long history. Originally, the Regional Farmers’ Association in Baden-Württemberg e.V. (LBV) was commissioned by the state of Baden-Württemberg to set up the trainee program with Russia in 1991. As a result of this cooperation, AKI was founded as a non-profit organization in 1998 and the implementation of the trainee programs was transferred from the LBV to AKI. Since then, AKI is implementing the trainee programs as an independent and registered non-profit organization.
In recent years, in addition to the agricultural internship programs for international students, other areas with a focus on agricultural vocational training and organizational development have been developed. These include specialist seminars and delegation trips for farmers and specialists from the agricultural and food industry both here in Germany and in our partner countries, as well as international project management for subject-specific projects in the agrifood sector.
Under the volunteer leadership of Hans-Benno Wichert and an honorary board, AKI continues to expand its international contacts and the full-time team works closely with various partners in Germany, the CEE and CIS countries, as well as in other countries in Africa and Asia.
