Presentation of project results & extension of the Burundi project until the end of 2022

On 16 May 2022, AKI presented the results and outlook of the project “Establishment of an AgriSocial Education and Training Centre in Gitega, Burundi" to the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection - Baden-Württemberg (MLR).

From the MLR, Dr Konrad Rühl, Dr Michael Grimminger, Ms Helga Sievert, Mr Christian Müller and Mr Jan Rebehn were present. After the welcoming and introductory session, AKI’s Managing Director Falk Kullen and both project managers Julia Fendel and Teklezghi Teklebrhan presented the results of the project period 2020-2021 as well as the outlook on the planned activities of the extension phase in 2022. The presentation was rounded up with a video (see: LINK to video) summarizing the achievements of the project. Afterwards, possible approaches for the further development of the Education and Training Centre after 2022 were discussed.

Besides the great progress already made by the project, the project partner Father Walter Stärk, the project committee and the integrated local people are enthusiastic about the regenerative agriculture approach and would like to further develop the ongoing concept.

Because of the promising project results and with the aim of building local value chains to create additional sources of income for the Education and Training Centre, the project will be further funded by the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection - Baden-Württemberg (MLR) until End of December 2022.
