Empowering Kenyan Youth: AKI-BAC Follow-Up Program's Informative Online Seminars

AgrarKontakte Internationale (AKI) e.V. and Bukura Agricultural College (BAC) organized a three-day online seminar from 31.05. – 02.06.2023 in the framework of German-African Traineeship follow-up.

The three-day online seminar organized by AKI and BAC covered a range of topics relevant to the agricultural sector in Kenya. One of the key areas of focus was the production of African leafy vegetables, which are not only nutritious but also have high market demand. The seminar provided valuable insights into the cultivation, marketing, and processing of these vegetables, empowering participants to capitalize on this growing market.

Another important topic discussed was poultry farming, which has gained significant popularity over the last few years due to its potential for both subsistence and commercial purposes. The seminar shed light on best practices for raising indigenous chicken breeds, addressing topics such as housing, feeding, disease management, and marketing strategies. This knowledge equips young farmers with the necessary tools to succeed in this promising sector.

Additionally, economic calf rearing was discussed, highlighting its potential as a lucrative enterprise. Participants gained insights into calf management, including nutrition, health care, and breed selection. Such knowledge is essential for young entrepreneurs looking to maximize profits and contribute to the growth of the livestock industry in Africa.
