Annual political kick-off event of the Transitional Agriculture Project – 2022

The Advisory Board of the TransitionalAgriculture Project met, on Monday 21 February 2022, digitally with the Presidents and Vice-Presidents of the World Farmers' Organization (WFO), the National Farmers' Organizations from Germany (DBV), Russia (AKKOR), Malawi (NASFAM), Rwanda (INGABO), Ghana (COFAG), and Zimbabwe (ZFU). On behalf of the implementing organizations, representatives of the Andreas Hermes Academy (AHA) and AgrarKontakte International (AKI) participated in the event.

After Falk Kullen (Managing Director, AKI) welcomed the participants, Julia Fendel (Project Manager, AKI) presented the results from 2021 and the planned activities for 2022. The event was followed by welcoming remarks from Dr. Theo de Jager (President, WFO), V. N. Plotnikov (President, AKKOR), Clara Malikula (Chairman, NASFAM), Ebenezer Nsiah (President, COAFG), and Oswald Tuyisenge (Commissioner for Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation, INGABO). Joachim Rukwied, President of the DBV, gave the closing speech.

Following, a lively discussion on ideas and proposals for future cooperation took place. The ideas, which came from the group of participants and were incorporated into the further course, ranged from the involvement of other farmers’ organizations, a stronger focus on women farmers, to a more practice-oriented exchange format.

Planned activities of the Transitional Agriculture Project for this year 2022:

  • The next digital seminar took place on the 10th  March, where participants exchanged a communication output that will allow them to promote the project to other organizations.
  • It is planned that the first live workshop will take place near Frankfurt am Main, Germany, between the 2nd  June and the 5th  June.
  • Afterwards, the participants will fly together with the AHA and AKI to the WFO General Assembly, which will take place from the 7th  June to the 10th  June. There they will also have the opportunity to present Transitional Agriculture in the form of a communication output.

We are looking forward to a fruitful exchange within the framework of the Transitional Agriculture Project.
