In February 2026, I visited Burundi to assess AKI projects and was captivated by its lush, green landscapes. In my experience, a large share of reports about Burundi focuses on challenges such as poverty, hunger, and the impacts of climate change, while only a few highlight the beauty and culture of Burundi.

Burundians proudly call their homeland “the land of milk and honey.” The breathtaking landscapes are matched by the warmth and hospitality of the people, who generously welcome visitors.

These pictures were taken during my project visit from 15 to 21 February 2026, along scenic routes from Bujumbura to Gitega and Gitega to Ngozi. They capture the spirit, beauty, and remarkable scenery of this country.
